Africa-Press – Angola. The new vice-presidents and secretaries of the National Assembly (AN) assume, since this Monday, their respective functions with the transfer of portfolios approved by the president of the Parliament, Carolina Cerqueira.

The leader of the Angolan parliament appealed, on the occasion, for cohesion, ethics, constructive dialogue, dedication and a sense of mission to prevail in “daily activity, so that we can guarantee institutional stability in strict compliance with the Constitution and the law “.

He noted that the new functions represent a fundamental support for the sacred fulfillment of the Constitution and the Law.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the legacy for future generations and in the exercise of sovereignty, respecting the Constitution of the Republic as the supreme and fundamental Law, which completes, on February 5th of this year, 13 years of validity.

“Congratulations to the elected vice-presidents and secretaries and many successes”, expressed Carolina Cerqueira.

Vice Presidents of AN for V Legislature

Deputies Américo Cunonoca (MPLA), Arleth Liona Chimbinda (UNITA), Raúl Lima (MPLA) and Xavier Jaime Manuel (UNITA), will henceforth hold the positions of 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th vice-presidents of the National Assembly, respectively .

Board Secretaries of AN

Deputies Manuel Lopes Moniz Dembo (MPLA), Amélia Judith Ernesto (UNITA), Rosa Branca da Cunha Cardoso Albino (MPLA) and Ernesto da Costa Cassongo (UNITA) were elected to the positions of 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th secretaries of Board of the National Assembly.

The members of the Board of the AN are elected by the Plenary of the National Assembly on the proposal of the political parties, obeying the principle of proportional representation.

Of the 220 deputies of the Angolan Parliament, 124 are from the MPLA and 90 from UNITA, while the PRS, FNLA and PHA have two parliamentarians each, elected in the elections of 24 August 2022.
