Africa-Press – Angola. Angola’s new ambassador to South Africa, Rui Orlando Xavier, handed over, this Tuesday (3), the Letters of Credentials to President Cyril Ramaphosa, in a ceremony held at the Sefako Makgatho Presidential Guest House, in Pretoria .
Rui Xavier is part of a group of ambassadors appointed this year by the President of the Republic, João Lourenço, to head Angolan Diplomatic Missions in countries in Africa, Europe, America and Asia.
Before being appointed to South Africa, the Angolan diplomat, with a degree in International Relations from the Luís de Camões University in Portugal, performed the same duties in Japan.
Rui Xavier, who began his diplomatic career in 1976, will also serve as Angola’s non-resident ambassador to Lesotho and Madagascar.
In addition to the Embassy, Angola has general consulates in Johannesburg and Cape Town in South Africa.
Letters of Credentials are official diplomatic documents presented to the Heads of State of countries for which individuals have been designated to serve as ambassadors.
