Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan Bar Association (OAA) in Uíge delivered Monday, at the capital headquarters of this province, definitive certificates to eight lawyers and provisional certificates to another 12 interns.

With the delivery of these documents that enable professionals to practice law in the country, the province of Uíge now has 68 full-time lawyers and 112 interns.

At the ballot delivery ceremony, held in one of the hotels in the city of Uíge, the OAA’s provincial delegate in the region, Landu Marcelo, said that the number of professionals is still insufficient to cover the province’s 16 municipalities.

Without specifying the number of lawyers needed for the province, the jurist only said that more than 80 local citizens have benefited, since January this year, from free legal consultations.

In this way, the jurist appealed to citizens who find themselves in conflict with the Law and experiencing financial difficulties to contact the Bar Association in order to benefit from free legal assistance.

The person in charge said that the OAA in Uíge has held lectures, seminars and legal consultations, aimed at the population of the 16 municipalities in the region.

Regarding the challenges of the OAA provincial delegation in Uíge, he said that the focus will be on training professionals, aiming to better respond to the demand for this service.
