More than 900 national and foreign athletes, with emphasis on Namibia, South Africa, Eritrea, Kenya, Mozambique, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Botswana, signed up until yesterday, Wednesday, to participate in the 66th edition of the race year-end event, São Silvestre, taking place on the 31st of this month, in Luanda.
This information was provided by the president of the Angolan Athletics Federation, Bernardo João, who is on a working visit to Lubango, ensuring that the logistical and technical conditions are being created.
Bernardo João, who has been in Huíla since Monday to lead a training course for track and field coaches in the mid-distance and long-distance specialties, said that over the past week a technical visit was made to the course of the race. Even so, the president of the federation made it known that he hopes to be received by the Minister of Youth and Sports, Palmira Barbosa, to present the needs plan and discuss other factors inherent to the race.
