Africa-Press – Angola. Norwegian ambassador Bjornar Dahl Hotvedt, in Luanda, expressed his country’s intention to cooperate in the field of culture with Angola.
Speaking on the occasion of the first Nordic film festival in Angola, a joint initiative between Norway and Sweden, the diplomat stressed that there is not much cooperation in this area so far, and he intends to change the scenario.
Thus, the festival is the first step towards the implementation of such objective. He went on to say that this is part of his agenda, and after the festival there will be an evaluation of the sector in Angola and the planning of other initiatives.
The diplomat guaranteed that they will work to increase the scope of collaboration, although his country is more focused on the oil sector, as it is also very important for the future.
In turn, the Swedish ambassador to Angola, Lennart Killander Larson, revealed that his country has been holding an African festival, to which they’ve invited filmmakers, photographers, and others to exhibit their works.
He considered this cultural exchange very important, as it allows both peoples to learn about each other’s cultural realities, adding that his country and Angola also cooperate in the areas of film and literature, since culture is very important for building bridges between the two nations.
The first edition of the Nordic film festival in Angola will run until the 20th of the current month, in the Camões Institute Hall, with the screening of five short and feature films, including dramas and comedies, from Norway, Sweden, and Angola.
