Africa-Press – Angola. The 116th Session of the Council of Ministers of the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (OEACP), taking place from the 18th to the 20th of this month in Brussels, Belgium, approved the institution’s resource mobilization strategy.

Also approved was the strategy for implementing the neighborhood instrument and evaluating the multi-country programs of the OEACP, as they are funded under the neighborhood instrument for development and international cooperation.

Angola is represented at the meeting by the Secretary of State for International Cooperation and Angolan Communities Abroad, Domingos Vieira Lopes.

During the works, the Angolan diplomat chaired, at the Organisation’s headquarters, the meeting of the Ministerial Committee for Cooperation for the Financing of Development OEACP, in the capacity of Angola to be vice-president of the same.

The Committee took note of the Organization of the Regional Forum of the Center for South-South and Triangular Cooperation for Central Africa.

The Mechanism for Cooperation and Financing for Development is a commitment adopted by the Summit of Heads of State and Government in Nairobi (Kenya), in 2019, and Luanda (Angola), in 2020, on the need for the OEACP to engage in campaigns structures for mobilizing resources to support the secretariat’s operations, as well as to finance Member States’ development programs.

The constitutive act of the OEACP is the Georgetown Agreement, signed in 1975. The main objective is the sustainable development of the Member States and their gradual integration into the global economy.

Angola assumes the presidency of the Organization of African, Caribbean and Pacific States, which has the Angolan secretary-general, Georges Rebelo Chikoti.
