OMA will Adapt Structures to the New Administrative Division

Africa-Press – Angola. The MPLA’s first provincial secretary, Luís Nunes, stated in Luanda that the new Political-Administrative Division, which resulted in the country’s capital having 16 municipalities, poses new organizational challenges to OMA and requires a redoubled effort to ensure that no woman is excluded from opportunities for training and political participation. Luís Nunes, who was speaking at the opening of the 6th Ordinary Plenary Meeting of the OMA Provincial Committee in Luanda, also called on the party’s women’s organization to remain a firm bridge between the people and the institutions and thus reinforce its role of listening, constructive denunciation and presentation of proposals with an impact on society.

“We are preparing for the future. This is a time of active hope, of militant commitment, of OMA’s firm presence in building a better Angola”, said Luís Nunes, who also welcomed the preparation of the 8th Ordinary Congress of OMA.Speaking on the sidelines of the event, the first provincial secretary of the OMA in Luanda, Luzia Policarpo, confirmed that the organization is already working to adapt to the new administrative reality.

“The main objective of this meeting is to balance the activities carried out during 2024 and look ahead to 2025. We are also announcing the convening of the 8th OMA Congress,” she said. The first secretary also reported that, based on the new administrative division, the OMA will hold constituent assemblies in the new municipalities starting this May, with the aim of strengthening the organization’s territorial presence.

“Our main objective in 2025 is to work on preparing for the Congress, increasingly galvanizing women into our organization,” she added.
