Africa-Press – Angola. A commission to monitor victims of domestic violence was created by the Ombudsman’s Office, as part of the priority protection of children’s rights.
The announcement was made this Wednesday, in Luanda, by the ombudsman, Florbela Araújo, at the opening of a lecture that marked the 74th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, celebrated on 10 December.
On the occasion, the ombudsman stated that the Commission has been working with public institutions and with the courts, in particular.
According to the official, the Commission has obtained positive results, both in cooperation with public entities and in suppressing the injustices claimed.
“The issue of the rights of vulnerable citizens is the object of our reflection on this commemorative day of another International Human Rights Day”, he expressed.
Present at the act, the governor of Luanda, Manuel Homem, considered respect for human rights under the terms of the Constitution and the law to be fundamental.
For the governor, the meeting allows for a better understanding of rights, freedoms, as well as their importance to society.
This year, the celebrations of the 74th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights take place under the motto “Dignity, Freedom and Justice for All”.
