Africa-Press – Angola. The Ombudsman, Florbela Araújo, appealed, this Thursday, in Luanda, to the institutions that manage complaints with the institution to be equipped with new information technologies, in order to provide a public service with greater efficiency and effectiveness.
When speaking at the opening of the seminar on “The complaints management system for senior officials of the Ombudsman’s Office”, the person responsible clarified that the institution, under the terms of the law, is an independent public entity, which receives and evaluates complaints from citizens through actions or omissions by public authorities, requesting clarifications and making recommendations without decision-making power in situations of violation of fundamental rights.
“From a conceptual point of view, a complaint is any communication about a violation of fundamental rights and freedoms addressed to the Ombudsman’s Office, in which its intervention is requested. Therefore, this topic is of great importance for institutions that deal with citizens’ problems related to services that generate dissatisfaction”, he highlighted.
For this reason, he highlighted that the training action will significantly contribute to improving the weaknesses and setbacks that are evident in the institutions.
“We believe that the training cycle will allow us to clarify the issues inherent to the procedural processing of complaints in our institutions, as the Ombudsman is a public and independent entity that defends the rights, freedoms and guarantees of citizens, it is important to monitor with pay due attention to the way in which complaints are processed in institutions”, he added.
Lasting two days, 12 Ombudsman technicians participate in the seminar.
