Africa-Press – Angola. The Provincial Government of Huambo has opened the public tender for the design of 15 new Volkswagen buses (Marcopolo model) to companies operating in the road sector, informed the head of the local Transport, Traffic and Urban Mobility Office.

Joaquim Salinga, who was speaking during a meeting with representatives and partners of companies in the public transport sector, stressed that the winning entities of the contest will help to improve urban and inter-municipal circulation.

He explained that the agents selected to manage these vehicles, valued at more than 58 million kwanzas, must pay, within a period of ten years, their installments in accordance with the contract and term of commitment.

The provincial official informed that, so far, the sector has received 25 processes from private operators that are candidates for receiving the means. Of this number, only seven submitted proposals in accordance with the requirements and documentation required by the Transport Directorate of Huambo.

These are the private operators RCH, MD. Freitas, SAGILDA, BCG, Anil-Transportes, Ofecif and PEPK Grupo.

The head of the Provincial Cabinet for Transport, Traffic and Urban Mobility clarified that the companies that win the public tender for the management of the new buses will provide services on the inter-municipal route, with the connection between the city of Huambo and the municipal seats of Bailundo, Caála, Chicala-Cholohanga, Cachiungo, Chinjenje, Ecunha, Ukuma, Londuimbali, Longonjo and Mungo.

Joaquim Salinga explained that, in the urban area, a route is also planned between the urbanization of Caála, Lossambo, districts of Cambiote, Chiva, Bom Pastor, São João, Cruzeiro sector and Albano Machado Airport/Praça da Quissala, commonly known as Germany. .

Joaquim Salinga highlighted the need for operators to have greater responsibility in the management and care of vehicles, thus complying with contractual clauses, with emphasis on the provision of monthly rents of 491 thousand kwanzas, while for the population he asked for greater cooperation to prevent vandalization of public media.

“The entry into circulation of ten more buses will not solve the problem of public transport, but it will certainly help to alleviate the difficulties of many citizens, especially students and those who work outside the city”, he stressed.

With these 25 new buses, he explained, the province, with a territorial extension of 35,771 square kilometers and a population of more than two million inhabitants, will now control more than 70 new buses, already delivered as part of the reinforcement of public and collective transport. of passengers.
