Africa-Press – Angola. The director of the Penitentiary Service in Bengo, prison commissioner, Manuel Maria Tavares Culeca, highlighted Monday, in Dande, the gains achieved in the field of humanisation, rehabilitation and social reintegration of inmates.

When intervening in the Caboxa prison, on the occasion of the 44th anniversary of the Penitentiary Service, the official said that the transformations that are taking place all over the world have also had repercussions in the prison area, with dynamics that point to a substantial improvement in the rehabilitation process.

He praised the efforts made daily by the staff of the Penitentiary Service in the tasks that are entrusted by operational readiness.

In turn, the fire commissioner, Faustino Camões, representing the provincial delegate of MININT, exhorted the penitentiary’s staff to invest in continuous training and research, in order to face the new challenges.

He recognized the need for improvements in working conditions and accommodation for staff and prisoners, adding that the Ministry of the Interior has been working towards this.

Within the scope of the March Woman, he congratulated the ladies of the penitentiary for their efforts on a daily basis.

The Caboxa penitentiary establishment, in the province of Bengo, currently controls 607 prisoners, of which 487 are convicted and 120 are in custody.
