Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan Parliament and the North American Congress have an important role to play, taking into account the strengthening of bilateral relations, defended, this Thursday, in Washington, the Angolan ambassador to the United States of America (USA), Augustine Van-Dúnem.

According to a press release, the diplomat’s point of view was presented during a working meeting with Republican Congresswoman, Young Kim, which served to analyze the level of cooperation between the two houses of law.

In the aftermath of the meeting with the congresswoman who is also a member of the sub-committee for African Affairs of the US Senate, Agostinho Van-Dúnem, stated that the parties concluded that relations between Angola and the US are at their highest point.

The moment also served to present the Executive’s economic diversification policies, regional political security and stability, the strengthening of democracy and respect for Human Rights.

The ambassador expressed his intention to make these meetings regular, so that American authorities are aware of the Angolan reality.

Angola and the USA signed, in 2010, a strategic partnership agreement, and cooperate in several areas, with emphasis on trade, finance, energy, manufacturing industry, security, health and justice.

Angola exports oil and diamonds to the United States and buys food, equipment for the oil sector and various machinery from this country.

Angola is the US’s third largest trading partner in Sub-Saharan Africa, mainly due to oil exports.
