Africa-Press – Angola. Petro de Luanda Friday took an important step in the Angola Cup in senior men’s basketball, by beating its B team, by 93-71, in the first leg of the quarter-finals .
In the match, played at the ISPTEC Pavilion, the best of two games, at halftime, the main team was already winning by 53-33.
The collective, led by coach José Neto, in the third and last period surpassed the group of coach Manuel da Silva, by 86-56 (3rd), and in the 4th, by 93-71.
Base winger Carlos Morais, from Petro de Luanda, was the best scorer of the match, with 21 points, followed by his teammate, Abubakar Gakou, with 19.
At Petro B, Valdir Manuel and Antony Jimafo were the top scorers, with 10 points each.
Even today, in these quarter-finals, who also took a big step towards the semi-final, was 1o de Agosto who defeated 1o de Agosto B, by 125-84, and Atlético Sport Aviação (ASA) over Jesus Christ Basketball, 102-84.
The last match of the quarter-finals between Interclube and Casa do Pessoa of Porto do Lobito, was postponed without date, because the opponent of the “policias” did not arrive in Luanda.
The second round of this final phase, scheduled for Saturday, in which Petro B will play as home team, at the ISPTEC pavilion, against Petro de Luanda.
1.o de Agosto B, at 3 pm, will host 1.o de Agosto at the Victorino Cunha pavilion, and Jesus Cristo Basketball plays with ASA, at 3 pm, at the Dream Space pavilion.
Petro de Luanda is the holder of the trophy (2021/2022).
