Africa-Press – Angola. Clube Atlético Petróleos de Luanda is looking for new partnerships and launches, in 2023, the Financial Autonomy Project (PAF), which aims to reach close to 20 percent of what is transferred annually by the founding partner, Sonangol.
The said project is also the result of the country’s social situation, in which the club’s management aims to safeguard against any surprises that may happen, press learned from the “tricolor” association.
It decided to launch the program, where before a national campaign for new members and improve the database and transform all supporters into members and monetize it and consequently bring new collective or individual partners.
In an interview with press yesterday, the head of the commercial and new business department, Sidónio Malamba, informed that they intend to relieve part of the budget made available by the national oil company (Sonangol), without specifying the amount.
“This is a little of what has been happening in our country, the slowdown of what is the contribution of the State in sports. Petro decided to air a financial autonomy project,” he said.
He added that the steps taken so far include changing the department of associativism, communication and marketing and turning to a more commercial aspect. Thus, the emergence of a new area, the commercial and new business department.
“We have to go after future partners and put into practice what is planned and achieve financial autonomy”, he argued. He appealed to members to contribute to the club and to regularize their dues, as a way to safeguard the successes achieved so far in national and international competitions.
Still according to the head of the emblem of the capital, it currently has 1,120 members, of which only 250 pay their dues.
He highlighted that they have a very challenging job ahead of them and will continue to always strive for transparency. “We are not just a sports club, but we are also concerned with national issues, not just in Luanda, but throughout the country”, he said.
Petro, founded on January 14, 1980, has football, basketball (men) and handball (women) as the most regular sports in the main international competitions on the continent. There are also athletics, cycling, gymnastics, roller hockey, karate and sailing.
