Africa-Press – Angola. Petro de Luanda is looking for a victory against 1.o de Agosto, Sunday, a result that has not happened in the last two years in the National Football Championship.
Speaking this Saturday at a press conference to launch the national “classic”, Alexandre Santos stated that the triumph could be an incentive for the following rounds, in a competition in which he aims to become three-time champion.
For the match on the 1st round, to be played at the Coqueiros stadium, in the Angolan capital, he said that the objective of victory will only be achieved with maximum concentration on the part of his players.
“Nothing better than starting with our great rival. They are the biggest clubs in Angola and I hope there are goals, preferably from our side, because it’s good to start winning in a classic”, he said.
Serving for the “tricolores” for the third consecutive year, where he won two championships, without ever winning against the “red-blacks”, Alexandre Santos was aware of the difficulties to be encountered.
In two years, the most the “tricoloes” achieved against the “military” were draws, in addition, obviously, to defeats.
The “tricolor” coach stated, however, that he was afraid of possible disruptions in the squad, resulting from the almost five months of interruption, without the supervising federation having explained itself about the successive postponements of the championship.
In “Girabola`2022-23”, Petro finished in the lead, with 69 points, while 1.o de Agosto came in second, with 61.
