Africa-Press – Angola. Petro de Luanda defeated 1o de Agosto on Monday by 90-69, and is one step away from retaining the title of National Senior Men’s Basketball Championship, increasing the Play-off total to 3-1, in the best of 7.
Galvanized by Sunday’s (25) triumph, 1o de Agosto performed below expectations right from the start, with their defensive weakness easily visible.
Petro de Luanda, playing as the home team, under pressure due to the previous game, passed the ball around more often, which was not the case on the other side.
With errors in their defence, 1o de Agosto was unable to stop Yanick Moreira despite successive corrections by coach Lazare Adingono.
Yanick Moreira, with 23 points, was the top scorer in the match played at the Cidadela Sportcenter Pavilion.
Petro is one game ahead of celebration the title (which they have held since 2019), and the 5th game takes place on Thursday (29) at 6 pm.
In the first 3 duels, Petro won by 89-78, 81-79 and lost by 95-86.
