Africa-Press – Angola. One thousand and 130 residences in the Paz, Boa – Vida and Benfica neighborhoods, on the outskirts of the city of Menongue, capital of Cuando Cubango, began, this Monday, for the first time, to benefit from electricity, as part of the implementation of the Plan Integrated Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM).
This is an undertaking made available to the inhabitants of the peripheral neighborhoods of Menongue, within the framework of the 48 years of National Independence, marked on the 11th of November, included among the 12 projects scheduled to be inaugurated during these 2023 Dipanda celebrations, at Cuando Cubango .
The governor of the province of Cuando Cubango, José Martins, inaugurated three transformation stations (PT), which allowed home connections for 450 homes in the PAZ neighborhood, 500 homes in Boa-Vida and 180 in Benfica.
The government official said it was a project designed to address one of the biggest concerns of the beneficiaries, the lack of electricity.
He said that the Executive will continue, still within the scope of the implementation of the Municipal Intervention Plan, on public lighting, to allow the circulation of the population, especially students at night, local policing and reduce the crime rate in communities.
He urged beneficiaries to quickly sign consumer contracts with the National Electricity Distribution Company (ENDE), so that home supply is regular.
José Martins requested traditional authorities and the general population to monitor the conservation of public assets, in order to ensure their durability and, in this way, cover more residences in the three neighborhoods, as this was the first phase.
It should be noted that the municipality of Menongue was covered, within the scope of the Integrated Plan for Intervention in Municipalities (PIIM), with 12 projects, of which three have already been delivered to the population.
ENDE in Menongue, the capital headquarters of Cuando Cubango, controls more than 20 thousand consumers, of which 900 benefit from the prepaid system.
