Africa-Press – Angola. The provincial commander of the National Police (PN) in Benguela, Commissioner Aristófanes dos Santos, urged the staff, with emphasis on junior and senior officers, to be more committed to protecting public assets and assets.
According to the official commissioner, who spoke this Wednesday (13) during the promotion and patenting ceremony for two chief superintendents and 18 superintendents, it is necessary to improve the security system in the Lobito Corridor.
The Commercial Port and the Lobito Refinery, the photovoltaic plants and issues linked to the Tax and Customs Police, among other assets, should also deserve the staff’s increased attention.
Aristófanes dos Santos was also concerned about the sale of scrap metal, which often leads to damage to public assets that must be secured by the National Police.
For the commissioner, although the province’s criminal situation is not endemic or very serious, it presents some concerns, especially in peri-urban areas, at night, where most crimes occur.
“The province of Benguela is receiving large investments from the Government of the Republic of Angola and beyond, whose security must be safeguarded by our forces”, he said.
On the occasion, the highest ranking member of the National Police in the province of Benguela said that the promotions are more than deserved, because most of the lives of those now patented have been in the service of the corporation, but drew attention to greater responsibility and dedication to the work.
He acknowledged the existence of some staff with excessive tenure with the same rank, for various reasons, but said that the General Command of the National and Provincial Police are attentive to career progression, so that they are fair in the way they act, be and be in the corporation and in society.
“This promotion should be an incentive for more and better work for the benefit of the PN and the citizens, who are the reason for the corporation’s existence. Patents or positions should not serve to accommodate us, and think that from the height we reach At these levels we can be lax or mistreat the citizen”, he concluded.
The patenting ceremony for these officers was preceded by others in the various bodies of the corporation in the province of Benguela.
