Africa-Press – Angola. The National Police Command in Cabinda has been holding meetings with some religious leaders in the city of Cabinda in order to reinforce and increasingly strengthen the existing good relations for collaboration in the fight against crime and illegal immigration.
According to the Provincial Commander of the National Police (PN) in Cabinda, Francisco Noticia Baptista, who held meetings with some religious leaders on Thursday, relations with the church in Cabinda are excellent.
́ ́We will continue to do everything we can to ensure that relations continue to be good. Crime, as we all know, is a social phenomenon and for that reason, we want families to play a more active role in the education of their children and to collaborate with the police whenever they are called in the case of a crime in the community ́ said.
As for crime itself in Cabinda, Francisco Noticia, indicated that there are some phenomena that worry society and the defense and security bodies and that in this year (2023) measures to combat them are already safeguarded.
He pointed out the issue of motorcycles (motorcycle taxis) whose users are mostly illegal and do not respect the road code, unregistered motorcycles (without license plates), towing three people on a motorcycle, a fact that has been frequent on the part of citizens foreigners from the DRC.
Clergy reaction
The bishop of the diocese of Cabinda, Dom Belmiro Tchissengueti, after the meeting, expressed concern about illegal immigration in Cabinda and asked for actions to mitigate the phenomenon.
He also referred that illegal immigration should be faced with great responsibility by the authorities.
In turn, the representative of the Evangelical Church in Angola (IEA), Francisco Pedro Malonda, underlined that he will continue to collaborate with the police in the fight against crime.
́ ́We are with the population and every day we are informed of some situations that often come from the side of the servants of God, to vent and inform. Likewise, in the same way as our defense and security bodies, working in this symbiosis of cooperation, we can minimize crime and illegal immigration.
The province of Cabinda has a vast land border in addition to the maritime and river borders with the two Congos (RC and DRC), with the Republic of Congo to the north and the Democratic Republic of Congo to the northeast, southeast and south.
Illegal immigration has been one of the phenomena that most worries the authorities in the province.
