Africa-Press – Angola. Angolan politician José Maria Ferraz pointed out, this Wednesday, the “patriotic attitude” and the “principles of loyalty to the homeland” as factors for the development of a Nation.

José Maria Ferraz expressed this point of view at the Conference “Angola peace and development” when he spoke on the theme “Youth and the Dream of a Developed Nation”.

In the politician’s view, development depends on the will of citizens and government officials to collectively build a dignified and prosperous Nation for present and future generations. “It is possible if the citizen and the government are aligned on the principles and values that consolidate the bases for development, focusing on the public interest in collective benefit”, he referred.

Attitudes such as fine-tuned and coherent management of financial resources for the exclusive benefit of the citizen’s interest, as well as the primacy of popular sovereignty by installed legal authorities, in order to safeguard the respect and interests of citizens to the detriment of the influence of foreign governments are , also, bases for the development of a Nation, according to the academic.

José Maria also defends the existence of legislation that severely punishes the manager who, in the exercise of any public office, uses state financial resources for his personal interest or that of groups to which he belongs.

The MPLA deputy, Mário Pinto de Andrade, one of the lecturers who gave the theme “Angola 21 Years of Peace , The Life of the Citizen” stated that peace , despite the difficulties currently registered, brought development in the sectors of social, political and economy of Angolans, made it possible to build and rehabilitate ports and airports, recover bridges, roads and extend the education system at all levels.

The conference, which addressed topics such as “Peace as a Factor of Unity, Reconciliation and Development” and “The Challenges of the Post-Peace Nation”, was promoted by the Associação Plataforma de Orientação para o Desenvolvimento (APODES) and aimed at the university youth of Campus Oscar Ribas and aimed to create a space for dialogue with diverse views on the paths that the country needs to follow in order to achieve sustainable development with the involvement of society united by the spirit of brotherhood and committed to progress and social well-being.
