Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, has already returned to Luanda, from Libreville (Gabon), where he participated in the XXIII Summit of the Economic Community of Central African States (CEEAC).

At the “4 de Fevereiro” airport, in Luanda, the Angolan Head of State received greetings from the Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, and members of the Executive.

The meeting of ECCAS Heads of State and Government reviewed, today, issues of security and peace in that region and aspects related to the economic nature of the organization.

The high-level meeting was marked by interventions by the host President, Ali Bongo Ondimba, the president of the Economic Commission of Central African States (CEEAC), the Angolan Gilberto Veríssimo, and the president of the African Union Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat.

The president of the Economic Commission of the Central African States (CEEAC), Gilberto Veríssimo, defended, in Libreville, the implementation of the Peace and Security Council of the region, to strengthen the political cooperation and security of the member countries.

ECCAS has, among its purposes, the implementation of a common policy, aimed at eliminating customs taxes between Member States, stimulating the free movement of people and goods and services, advancing industrial development within its core, among other aspirations.

The regional organization comprises Angola Burundi, Cameroon, Chad, Gabon, Equatorial Guinea, Central African Republic, Republic of Congo, Democratic Republic of Congo, Rwanda and São Tomé and Príncipe.
