Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, invited this Saturday, in Beijing, Chinese businesspeople to invest in the Lobito Corridor in the production of food products, including cereals and grains, sugar, livestock and fisheries.
The Head of State, who was opening the “Angola-China Business Forum”, also pointed out the battery production industry for the manufacture of electrically powered cars, photovoltaic panels for solar energy, tourism and other sectors of the economy, such as areas counting.
He also invited Chinese businesspeople to invest in certified medicine and vaccine production factories, whose main client will be the Angolan State, to feed the National Health System whose network of public hospitals has been growing significantly every year.
On the other hand, João Lourenço said that Angola intends to attract Chinese investors who bring not only financial capital and advanced technology, but also “know-how”, to increase efficiency in the internal production of goods and services.
“We count on Chinese investors to help us diversify our economy by increasing the domestic supply of goods and services with the “Made in Angola” seal, which contributes to the significant increase in export goods and contributes to the substantial increase in supply of jobs, which reduces the existing unemployment rate”, he highlighted.
He recalled that the country is building, in Lobito, Benguela province, the largest oil refinery that will have an important petrochemical industry associated with it, highlighting that Chinese businesspeople are invited to invest in this major project as shareholders from this construction phase.
Privatization
The statesman highlighted that Angola has available a set of companies and public assets that are in the process of total or partial privatization, linked to the oil sector, banking and insurance, telecommunications, large agricultural farms and important industries.
In this sense, he invited Chinese investors and businesspeople to participate in international competitions that enable the acquisition of these goods, as well as to carry out projects within the framework of public-private partnerships.
He mentioned that the Law on Public-Private Partnerships has been approved and regulated and several international public tenders are being prepared for the construction of important infrastructures, related to the production of hydroelectric or photovoltaic energy and respective energy transport networks, roads national cities and their bridges, with emphasis on the roads or highways that connect Angola to neighboring countries.
He called on Chinese companies to embrace the enormous business opportunities that the country offers and, thus, be able to enjoy the environment of stability and security prevailing in Angola.
“We want you to cooperate with us in the process of transforming Angola into a prosperous and modern country, capable of providing its people with the best living conditions”, he highlighted.
Since Thursday, in Beijing, for a 72-hour state visit to the People’s Republic of China, the Angolan President has participated in three high-level meetings, namely with his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, the Prime Minister, Li Qiang, and the chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress (Parliament), Zhao Leji.
The two States have a long history of cooperation, which is based on different areas, such as oil, health, infrastructure, staff training, among others.
Angola and China are strategic partners, with political-diplomatic and cooperation relations that have seen a notable increase since 2000, enabling the signing of several legal instruments in the social, commercial and business domains.
