Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, returned to the country, this Saturday (17), from Washington, where he participated in the discussion on the perspectives of cooperation between the United States of America and the African continent.
At the “4 de Fevereiro” international airport, the Angolan Head of State, accompanied by the first lady, Ana Dias Lourenço, received welcome greetings from the Vice-President of the Republic, Esperança da Costa, and senior government officials.
João Lourenço traveled to Washington at the invitation of President Joe Biden, made to a group of African Heads of State, to, for a few days, assess the perspectives of US-Africa cooperation.
During the four days of work in Washington, the Angolan statesman carried out an intense programme, with emphasis on the Business Forum attended by, among other personalities, Presidents Joe Biden and João Lourenço.
The Angolan Head of State also participated in a dinner offered by the host President to his African counterparts.
As part of the visit, the Angolan President received, in audience, high figures of the American administration, such as the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, and businessmen.
On the trip to Washington, the Angolan statesman was at the head of a delegation, made up of several ministers who were distributed by different panels.
