Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, learned about the potential of human capital displayed at several booths in Luanda Bay, as part of the National Conference on Human Capital.
Accompanied by the First Lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourenço, and her aides, João Lourenço toured the booths at length, where he engaged in dialogue with exhibitors, particularly those from the Agostinho Neto University (UAN), Catholic University (UCAN), UPRA, Jean Piaget University, and the polytechnic institutes, which presented their training programs.
Also noteworthy were the booths of the National Center for Scientific Research (CNIC), the School of Hotel and Restaurant Management, and the Institute of Telecommunications, the latter of which exhibited an application for learning national languages.
Meanwhile, the Kilamba Kiaxi Industrial and Polytechnic Institute, which offers courses in air conditioning and refrigeration, information systems management, and more, is showcasing its furniture and interior design.
According to the director of this institution, Ferreira Fragoso, the technical and vocational education subsystem aims, first and foremost, to prepare students for the job market, prioritizing employability.
He explained that continuing on to higher education is a subsequent step, with graduates generally entering the job market directly.
“In order to have a clear motto and a distinctive feature in our training, we have invested precisely in this premise,” he explained.
For new 10th-grade students, the Institute has a quota of 540 spots available this academic year, including 11th- and 12th-grade students, with a projected total enrollment of 1,650 students.
Human Capital Program 2023-2037
The new National Human Capital Development Plan 2023-2037 (ACH 23-37), a long-term multisectoral planning instrument that ensures political and technical guidance in accordance with the country’s development priorities, includes effective adjustments to training offerings and the adaptation of qualifications to the needs of the national labor market.
ACH 23-37 establishes strategic objectives for the development of national human capital and guides the relevant departments by projecting the expansion of education and training subsystems, estimating the number of graduates the country could reach by 2037 if measures leading to the established objectives are implemented.
This is aligned with the Angola 2050 Long-Term Strategy, which aims to enhance Human Capital, expand the education and professional training sectors, in quantity and quality, with a view to boosting innovation and supporting Angola’s inclusive and sustainable economic development.
