President João Lourenço ends visit to Malanje

Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, ended, this Friday, his working visit of a few hours to the province of Malanje, where he witnessed the end of the construction works of the Hydroelectric Power Plant (AH) of Laúca and unveiled the sign of the Ecological Center.

At the airport in the city of Malanje, the Head of State received farewell greetings from the governor, Marcos Nhunga, ministers, members of the provincial government of Malanje and traditional authorities.

The Laúca Hydroelectric Development has 2,070 Mw of installed capacity and 6 water intake units, 2.2 million m3 of excavation and 96 thousand m3 of concrete.

The structures include advanced technologies and efficient engineering capable of developing the best projects and solutions.

The main ones are:

Dam 1,070 m long and 156 m high that forms a reservoir with an area of ​​188 km2.

75m high water intake formed by 6 units, which give access to 6 shafts of 60 m and access to penstocks that total 12 km of tunnels.

Main Plant 100% underground, comprising 6 powerful Francis-type generating units with 334 MW of capacity each.

In the city of Malanje, alongside the visit to Laúca, President João Lourenço inaugurated the Quissol water supply system, an infrastructure capable of producing 720 cubic meters of water per hour from the Cuije river.

Budgeted at 31 million 237 thousand and 861 US dollars, financed by a credit line from China, the plant aims to reinforce the water supply system in the city of Malanje.

This infrastructure includes reservoirs, conduits, electromechanical equipment, administrative areas.
