The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, will meet, today, at the White House, with his North American counterpart, Joe Biden, to discuss strengthening bilateral cooperation. The meeting, to mark 30 years of relations between the two countries, is scheduled to start at 2 pm local time, 20 in Angola.
During the meeting, which should last one hour, the two Heads of State will discuss the next steps towards deepening bilateral cooperation in the fields of trade, investment, climate and energy and the Partnership for Global Infrastructure and Investment (PGI) project ) by President Biden in the Lobito Corridor, which connects Angola, the Democratic Republic of Congo and Zambia to global markets.
After this moment, President João Lourenço will meet, starting at 4 pm local time, with President Biden’s deputy assistant and senior advisor for Energy, Investment, National Security Council, Amos Hochstein.
Another meeting between the Head of State and the executive director of the United States International Development Finance Corporation, Scott Nathan, will also follow at the same time. During his visit to the White House, the President of the Republic is accompanied by the First Lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourenço.
