Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, consulted and interacted with the Angolan community living in Cuba on Sunday.

The meeting is part of the agenda of the parliamentary leader’s visit to Cuba as part of the relaunch of parliamentary cooperation.

According to a press release from the National Assembly sent the parliamentary leader addressed a message of encouragement and patriotic exaltation to the Angolan citizens and emphasized the “important” significance of the visit to Cuba, as part of the celebrations of Angola’s 50th anniversary of national independence.

She informed those present about the country’s major achievements, which are being held to commemorate the occasion with dignity, including infrastructure inaugurations and conferences on future challenges, the importance of developing the country’s human potential, economic and social development, and other cultural and political initiatives.

Regarding cooperation relations with Cuba, she noted that Cuba has left an “indelible” mark by establishing itself as a “great example of fraternal solidarity” in the process of liberation and the proclamation of Angola’s national independence.

She recalled that both countries maintain strategic cooperation in various areas, such as health, education, higher education, construction, and culture. The legacy of Cuban cooperation in the reconstruction and modernization of the Angolan homeland is evident.Interaction Space

Carolina Cerqueira opened a space for interaction with the community, which presented several concerns related to social and economic vulnerabilities that threaten the completion of studies for some university students, most of whom are financially dependent on their families.

The deputies clarified the concerns raised during the meeting and expressed solidarity with the young people, committing to advocate on their behalf to resolve the difficulties they faced.

The President of the National Assembly was accompanied by a delegation composed of deputies Manuel Dembo, Carla de Sousa, Helena Marciano, Alcides Sakala, Benedito Daniel, and the Secretary-General of the National Assembly, Pedro Agostinho de Neri.During her official visit to Cuba, which ended this Sunday, Carolina Cerqueira was received by the President of the Republic, Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez, held official talks with her counterpart, Esteban Lazo Hernández, paid tribute to the nationalist José Martí and visited important scientific and cultural centers in Havana.
