Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, returned to Luanda Sunday after a two -day visit to the province of Benguela, where he chaired the extraordinary meeting of the local governance council.
In the final statement of the meeting, the executive made public that the Angolan economy recorded a growth of 3.5 percent during the 1st quarter of this year, mainly driven by the non-oil sector.
The document reports that the performance of the national economy throughout the quarter, coupled with the slowdown of inflation, resulted in the creation of about 1 million new jobs.
Accompanied by the first lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourenço, and her assistants, the head of state took a long time for the pavilions where municipal and urban infrastructure projects are exposed, such as housing and development zones.
At the opening session, the President of the Republic encouraged provincial governments and municipal administrations to take leadership in creating opportunities, promoting local economies and improving the quality of life of populations.
He stressed that inclusive decentralization is fundamental to the harmonious development of the territory.
