Africa-Press – Angola. The governor of Huíla, Nuno Mahapi, expressed his concern this Monday with the overcrowding of the province’s prison, whose inmates, although in conflict with the law, are in undignified conditions.

The concern was raised by Nuno Mahapi, at the presentation of the new titular prosecutor in Huíla, Celma Moreira da Silva Lourenço, by the coordinator of the Southern Judiciary Region, Hernâni Beira Grande.

It is the first time that the PGR of Huíla is led by a female holder.

The governor of Huíla, Nuno Mahapi Dala, defended the continuous combination of actions to improve the quality of life of people who are facing justice, as it is one of the challenges that must be overcome, recognizing the overcrowding of the Comarca do Lubango.

Due to lack of funds, he added that the work on the infrastructure has not yet been concluded.

He said that efforts are being made to obtain resources to respond to the issue of the penal population. Nuno Dala hopes to count on the intelligence and support of the new prosecutor so that together they can make a fairer province for the good of all.

He highlighted that financial resources are being mobilized to complete the Caluquembe chain, in the Vila Branca sector, investments that will create an alternative to the overcrowded Lubango chain.

The Deputy Attorney General of the Republic, Hernâni Beira Grande, said that the presence of the new official is a result of the staff turnover program of that body.

She considered it essential to strengthen collaboration with the Government, National Police and other justice institutions, while the new head of the Prosecutor’s Office in Huíla, Celma Moreira da Silva Lourenço, Gabriel Custódio’s replacement, thanked the way in which she was received and hopes to feel at home .
