Africa-Press – Angola. The fifth ordinary congress of the Social Renewal Party (PRS), initially scheduled for May this year, will take place in the second half of this year, in Luanda.
The fact was revealed (Monday), in Luanda, by the secretary for the organization and staff of this party, Manuel Marcolino Ribaia, stressing that the material and logistical conditions for the event are being created.
Speaking at a press conference in the municipality of Viana, the political leader said that the date of the meeting was changed due to lack of financial means, which does not mean non-compliance with the statutes.
“The party bodies are doing everything to ensure that the congress is held in the second half of this year”, he stressed.
According to him, the PRS recommends all its members to work hard to create favorable conditions that will make it possible for the congress to take place within the intended framework.
He added that to date the only candidate for the presidency of the party is the current president Benedito Daniel, but other competitors may arise.
The PRS has existed for 32 years and in the current legislature it has two deputies in the National Assembly.
