Africa-Press – Angola. The Hip Hop Community of Huíla promotes on Saturday, 22nd, the first edition of a music-cultural show for citizens in conflict with the law, at the Lubango Penitentiary, with 19 artists already confirmed.

The activity will function as a four-hour meeting, where in addition to rap and break dancing, the community will have guests, kuduro and humor artists, as well as inmate Hip Hop makers who will be able to demonstrate their talent at the event.

Speaking about the event, the president of the Huíla Hip-hop Community, Símon Júnior, said that the artists, in addition to music, dance and a message of hope, will take some hygiene material to help meet the needs faced by the prison population. .

“The forecast is for a four-hour show, an event in which everyone who goes on stage voluntarily embraces the cause”, he continued.

He declared that the intention to hold the show in the penitentiary dates back to two years ago, but due to covid-19 reasons they were forced to back off, as they would already be in a third or fourth edition of the event with the inmates of the Huíla region.

He stressed that Hip Hop is a culture of peace, which is why they will bring moments of solidarity, good messages, music, interaction to the inmates, an event that will also serve to encourage young people not to embark on the world of crime.

He stressed that the choice of Comarca da Huíla was made because it is an establishment that houses mostly young people and they are the ones who commit the most crimes today, so the intention is to help build values in society, taking a message of a healthy restart of their lives after serving the sentence.

He said that they have the support of the Government of Huíla in holding the event and that if it were up to the community, they would promote the show once or twice a year on the spot.
