Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, who is on a working visit to the province of Cabinda, yesterday granted separate audiences to religious and traditional authorities, youth representatives and local businessmen.

The bishop of the Diocese of Cabinda, Belmiro Chissengueti, told the press, after leaving the audience, that the meeting took place in a cordial manner, “and we encourage the President of the Republic to continue to show the good signs of reconciliation, shown in recent times”.

“The last meetings with political leaders of the opposition, helped to calm the tension that hovered a little throughout the country”, considered the bishop, having made it known that “it is something that must continue for the preservation of Peace and National Reconciliation”.

“We present the question of the former soldiers of the FLEC, who are in Cabinda, whose process of framing in social life was not well completed, and who must be monitored because there is a need to ensure the situation so that peace reaches everyone. “There is promises made that must be carried out for the sake of peace and national reconciliation in the province of Cabinda”.

Regarding the new General Hospital of Cabinda, inaugurated yesterday by the President of the Republic, Bishop Belmiro Chissengueti suggested a certain participation of citizens, to ensure a good quality of services, with competent staff and a humanized health care. Belmiro Chissengueti referred that the national road number 100, which connects Yema and Alto Sundi, degraded in many sections, which makes mobility difficult at the provincial level, was one of the concerns presented to President João Lourenço, so that its rehabilitation will appear as a priority in the Executive’s programs.

Regarding the housing issue, Bishop Belmiro Chissengueti said that the religious proposed to the President of the Republic a new model for building houses in villages, to transform the localities into new cities.

The public debt that suffocates the local business community and that must be resolved to relieve their activity, the problem of employability, illegal immigration, technical and professional training to promote self-employment, the terrible conditions of the access roads to the province were some of the of the concerns raised by the religious.

On behalf of the traditional authorities, Zeferino Lubongo acknowledged the efforts undertaken by the Executive in the construction of various infrastructures of economic and social impact in the province, which will provide better living conditions for the populations and promote the development of the region.

“We ask the President of the Republic to have the main road connecting the North and South of Cabinda rehabilitated, and to review the situation of the population of Alto Sundi, who face social difficulties and isolation due to the lack of a good connection road” , he stressed.

Amélia Tati presented, as the main concerns of the youth, the dream of owning a home, unemployment and the lack of technical-professional training centers to promote self-employment in the province, as well as the conclusion of the construction works of the Media Library and the University Pole, having received, as he assured, guarantees of a gradual solution.
