Africa-Press – Angola. One thousand and 41 explosive devices have been removed, since January this year, in the province of Uíge, by the National Mine Action Agency (ANAM).

The data was announced this Tuesday, in the city of Uíge, by the director of the Provincial Office for Integrated and Economic Development, Marcelino Ferreira, at the closing of the II Quality Management and Control workshop, promoted by ANAM and the NGO Ajuda Popular da Norway .

The official reported that the aforementioned devices, including five anti-tank mines, were removed from an area of ​​1,208 square meters.

During the period in question, 3,712 people were made aware of the risk of mines.

The official reiterated the government and partners’ continued commitment to freeing mined areas, so that populations can practice agricultural activity in safety.

In turn, the deputy director general of ANAM, Joaquim Capita, considered the initiative an important step towards fulfilling actions to improve and control demining activities.

The Quality Management and Control workshop, which lasted seven days, was attended by 26 trainees from the provinces of Uíge, Bengo, Luanda, Huila, Huambo, Moxico, Cuanza Sul, Malange and Namibe.

At the meeting, matters were discussed about Decree 172/21, which institutionalizes the creation of ANAM, the Ottawa convention, land release, management and quality control, among other issues.
