Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Angolan Association of Information and Communication Technologies, João Cazola, defended last wednesday in Luanda, the need for greater investment in infrastructures in the technological sector, in order to improve the Internet signal in the country.
Speaking to journalists, after a lecture included in the celebration of the 17th of May, the International Day of Telecommunications and the Information Society, the official understands that it is necessary to invest more and more in improving the Internet signal to reach thousands of users.
He made it known that the Public Administration in Angola is the biggest user of Information Technologies in the execution of its tasks or management in an automated way, bringing a gain to society and to the economy itself, which is why “an investment” in the sector is required.
For him, despite the intended investment, Angola is in inclusion and follows the evolution of Communication and Information Technologies, as a result of the policies made by the Executive for this support.
On the occasion, he warned of the correct use of the Internet and not to disseminate false and discrediting information, as well as those who clone websites, putting the assets of companies or the integrity of a citizen at risk.
The lecture was promoted by the Catholic University of Angola, as part of the commemoration of the International Telecommunications and Information Society Day.
May 17 was chosen because it was on that day, in 1865, that the International Telegraphic Union was created and that the first International Telegraphic Convention was signed. From 1932, this entity was called the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
The objectives of the date are to celebrate progress in information technologies and to draw people’s attention to the changes that are taking place in society, with the power of the internet and other forms of telecommunication.
