Africa-Press – Angola. A specialized women’s shoe factory with the capacity to produce 2000 pairs daily was inaugurated on Monday (25) in the municipality of Panguila, Province of Bengo, by local governor Maria Nelumba.
With an estimated investment of US$4 million, the facility has two assembly lines and an equal number of sewing lines, creating 132 jobs (72 males and 60 females), mostly local youth, who received training to operate in the factory’s various areas.
Governor Maria Nelumba said the factory will contribute to increased tax revenue and the creation of jobs for young people in the region.
He announced that, as part of the celebrations for the 50th anniversary of the Angola national independence, more manufacturing units will be inaugurated by November of the current year, including the first phase of the aluminum plant near the Barra do Dande ocean terminal and the silicon and manganese processing plant in Panguila.
João Vanga, Managing Partner of the Jovembo Organizations and owner of the factory, said that the inauguration of the unit represents the consolidation of a project that aims to promote local development and innovation in the industrial sector.
He reaffirmed the factory’s commitment to producing quality products, creating opportunities for the community, and strengthening national industry.
