Africa-Press – Angola. The director of the Provincial Education Office of Uíge, Pasi Mafuta, this Thursday called on women in the region to invest in scientific research, aiming at the political, economic and social development of the country.
The official made this appeal during the opening act of the II March International Conference of University Women, in an initiative of the Association of Students of the Kimpa Vita University.
According to Pasi Mafuta, the country’s development must rely on the contribution of women, hence the need for them to invest in their academic training and scientific research.
” We urge women to go after the search for knowledge, despite the difficulties that many face in accessing it “, he added.
She also defended the continuous training of women to face the challenges of the present and the future, whose demands are ever greater in society.
On his turn, the president of the Association of Students of the Kimpa Vita University, José Cuzelena, said that the conference will focus on training women in the area of health, armed conflicts, employment, leadership, economy and the environment.
The meeting will discuss topics such as “Association and Citizenship in Africa”, the contribution of women in the social development of Uíge province, Africa and its multiple challenges, the trajectory of a successful woman, among others.
Lasting three days, the event, which brings together women from various women’s organisations, will be attended by women from the provinces of Namibe, Moxico, Malawi and Mozambique.
