The commander of the Eastern Military Region (RML), David Manuel Cavanda, has noted, since last Thursday, the state of operational, combative and educational-patriotic preparedness of the troops of the 62nd Motorized Infantry Brigade, stationed in the border municipality of Luau , province of Moxico.
In the municipality of Luau, 334 kilometers east of Luena, the capital city of Moxico, the general officer of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) is investigating combat readiness and the degree of preparation and patriotic education.
Before going to the Unit of the 62nd Motorized Infantry Brigade, David Cavanda held a meeting with the municipal administrator, Filomena Miza, with whom he discussed border security issues.
The commander of the Eastern Military Region (RML) is on a tour that will take him, in the next few days, with the same objective, according to an agenda, to the border municipality of Alto Zambeze, which is 519 kilometers from Luena , where the 59th Motorized Infantry Brigade is stationed.
The eastern tour began in the province of Lunda Sul, which served to present himself to the authorities as the new commander of the FAA’s Eastern Military Region (RML), which covers Moxico (home to the headquarters of the Region’s command), Lunda Sul (Command of the 3rd Division of the RML) and Lunda Norte (32nd Motorized Infantry Brigade).
The new commander of the RML, Lieutenant General David Cavanda, replaced, a month ago, Lieutenant General Carlos Sachimo, who retired due to an age limit.
Born in Cazombo, municipality of Alto Zambeze, Moxico province, David Cavanda has already performed several functions in the Angolan Armed Forces, such as Chief of Staff of the Angolan Military Mission in Congo Brazzaville, Head of the Planning and Organization Department of the General Staff , coordinator and commander of the Northern Milita Region.
