Africa-Press – Angola. The President of the Republic, João Lourenço, this Wednesday appointed Rui Manuel de Sousa Malaquias to act as member of the Economic and Social Council.

The information is expressed in a note from the Press Secretariat of the Presidency of the Republic, referring that, in another decree, President João Lourenço ended the functions of Delma Monteiro, as a member of the Economic and Social Council.

Born on November 7, 1980, Rui Manuel de Sousa Malaquias has a Master’s degree in Finance from the Catholic University of Portugal – Centro Regional do Porto, and a degree in Economics from the Catholic University of Angola, in addition to various training related, fundamentally, to the economic and financial sectors.

The Economic and Social Council integrates various figures from civil and business society. It was created in 2020 by President João Lourenço as a new space for dialogue with society, to issue contributions on the country’s socio-economic situation.

Its creation fits in with the priorities of the Head of State in listening to society, the business community, cooperatives, the economic and scientific community, as well as associations that deal with the socio-economic development of women and young people, taking into account with a view to ensuring their more active participation in the programming and execution of national development tasks.
