Africa-Press – Angola. The Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) arrested on Monday (13), in the municipality of Xá-Muteba, province of Lunda-Norte, an Angolan and a Lebanese citizen for possession and illegal trafficking of 7,550 diamonds of various carats.
According the SIC spokesperson in that province, to Graciano Lumanhe, the citizens, aged 57 and 47, were seized on a public highway when the suspects, aboard a vehicle, were attempting to reach the country’s capital, Luanda, 800,000 kwanzas in and the special stones in the Luggage.
He added that the arrest is the result of an operation against mining and trafficking of diamonds and petroleum products and related crimes.
The official stressed that the seized diamonds will be handed over to ENDIAMA-EP, as trustee, and the individuals will be referred to the Public Prosecutor’s Office for subsequent legal proceedings.
