Africa-Press – Angola. Sixty-seven citizens accused of sexually abusing minors were arrested, in 2023, in the province of Cuanza-Norte, by the Criminal Investigation Service (SIC).
The information was provided this Tuesday, in the city of Ndalatando, by the SIC spokesperson, Kituxi André, revealing that, in the period in question, 81 cases of sexual crimes against minors were registered, 24 of which were sexual assaults and 57 of sexual abuse. Seventy-seven crimes were solved.
According to the person responsible, the data represents an increase of 22 cases, compared to the previous year, in which 59 crimes of a sexual nature against minors were recorded.
According to the spokesperson, the municipalities of Cazengo, Cambambe, Golungo Alto, Lucala and Samba Caju lead the record of occurrences.
The victims were mostly children under 14 years of age. The attackers are between 20 and 60 years old.
He spoke about the arrest of a 59-year-old male individual, accused of committing the crime of sexual abuse of a minor under the age of 11, which resulted in pregnancy.
The incident occurred in September 2023, in the Tala Hady neighborhood, on the outskirts of the city of Ndalatando (Cuanza-Norte), where the accused financially enticed or threatened the girl to complete the act.
