Africa-Press – Angola. The Criminal Investigation Service in Lunda Norte seized, this Friday, 318 diamond stones of different carats, in illicit possession of a 56-year-old national citizen, in the municipality of Lucapa.
The information was provided by the institution’s spokesman, Graciano Lumanhe, stressing that the seizure of the stones and the consequent arrest of the alleged trafficker resulted from a micro-operation to combat economic crimes and illicit trafficking in diamonds.
The individual will be handed over to the Public Ministry for subsequent steps, while the diamonds will be forwarded to the Operation Transparency outpost in Malanje.
Graciano Lumanhe appealed to the population residing in diamond exploration areas to collaborate with the authorities, denouncing the mining of the strategic mineral.
