Africa-Press – Angola. The Criminal Investigation Service (SIC) seized, in Saurimo (Lunda Sul), 423 diamond stones that were in the possession of eight national citizens, aged between 21 and 44 years old.
The provincial director of Institutional Communication and Press of the Interior Ministry, Florêncio de Almeida, said that the seizure of the precious stones took place during the week, as a result of investigation and criminal intelligence work in coordination with other defense bodies. and security.
According to the official, the citizens involved were booked at police stations in the Pelengue neighborhood and on the Chicapa river, when they were traveling from artisanal mining areas in the municipalities of Lunda Sul province to the city of Saurimo.
They were in possession of various means of artisanal exploration aboard a Toyota Land-Cruiser vehicle, also seized.
The police officer informed that the alleged traffickers will be presented to the Public Prosecutor’s Office, together with the SIC, for compliance with the legal procedures of procedural instruction.
