Africa-Press – Angola. More than 600 needy families, out of the 5,119 registered in the municipality of Cambambe, Cuanza Norte province, received basic food baskets from the Provincial Office for Social Action, Family and Gender Equality, in order to minimize the need they face.

According to the municipal director of Social Action, Family, Gender Equality, Former Combatants and Veterans of the Fatherland, Laurinda Elisa, the basic baskets, delivered at home, are made up of non-perishable foods, such as corn flour, pasta, oil vegetables, beans, soap, sugar, biscuits, juices, table salt, condensed milk and omo.

Among the beneficiaries are widows, orphaned children, people with disabilities and the elderly, who, in addition to essential goods, were provided with blankets.

The support is part of the permanent service program of the Municipal Administration of Cambambe, within the scope of the Local Development and Combating Poverty Program (PIDLCP), which has benefited more than 300 families since January.

Due to limited resources, the institution has gradually provided support in the four communes of the municipality – Zenzado Itombe, São Pedro da Quilemba, Massangano and Dange-ya-Menha.

On the other hand, fifty people with albinism, out of a total of 107 registered in the municipality, were assisted with skin protection products, such as soaps, vitamins and creams.

Laurinda Elisa indicated that in the coming days other families from the localities of Lola and Maculumbi, affected by the floods of the Kwanza river, will be assisted, while the census takes place to determine the real number of people affected by the floods.

In this process, five families will be integrated, including widows and orphans of former combatants, who are also facing critical moments.
