Africa-Press – Angola. At least 300 children from the municipality of Nzeto, representing the entire province of Zaire, were treated to a solidarity Christmas party this Wednesday, hosted by the local government.
In addition to a fraternization lunch and delivery of toys, the little ones danced and recited poetry, in a prestigious act by the provincial governor, Adriano Mendes de Carvalho.
In a message read out on the occasion, the children asked for more respect and protection of their rights by adults and competent authorities.
They also requested the creation of effective mechanisms to combat the avoidance of paternity.
Intervening in the act, the godmother of the party Sofia Bendito Sebastião de Carvalho, said that the initiative is part of the 11 commitments towards the child.
He urged local authorities to intervene more sharply in the defense of children’s rights for the harmonious growth of this fringe.
