Africa-Press – Angola. The Civil Protection and Fire Service (SPCB) began, this Tuesday, the rehabilitation and expansion works of its national school, located in Zango 8mil, in the municipality of Calumbo, Icolo e Bengo province.

The national fire school has existed for 43 years, and for many years it operated in facilities located in the municipality of Ingombota, near the Military Hospital, later moving to Viana and now to the municipality of Calumbo, in Icolo e Bengo, in inadequate infrastructure.

The groundbreaking ceremony for the building’s renovation was carried out by the school’s director, Fire Sub-Commissioner Marcelino Pintinho, representing the national commander, Chief Fire Commissioner Bravo Pereira Mendes.

According to a press release from the institution, the reconstruction of the building, undertaken by the company GEMPORP, will be done in three phases, the first lasting three months.

The document further adds that the undertaking marks the beginning of a new phase in strengthening the technical and professional training of personnel, as well as offering them better working conditions.The school’s mission is to train provincial and municipal commanders, heads of operations, and others.
