Supreme Court Drops Four of 11 Charges against Isabel Dos Santos

Africa-Press – Angola. The Angolan Supreme Court has dropped four of the eleven accusations against the former Chairwoman of the Board of Directors of Sonangol, Isabel dos Santos, following the indictment resulting from the contradictory instruction requested by her defense, within the scope of case no. 002/25.

According to a note from this Superior Court released this Tuesday, the case involves five defendants, namely Isabel José dos Santos, Mário Filipe, Paula Cristina Neves Oliveira, Sarju Chandulal and the company PVC-Angola.

The remaining defendants were acquitted of the charge of criminal association.

The company PVC-Angola also saw all charges against it dropped, since, at the time of the events in question, the 1929 Code of Criminal Procedure, the legislation governing this procedural phase, did not provide for criminal liability for corporations.

The defense lawyer for four of the defendants appealed the decision, referring the case to the Supreme Court for review.

The Supreme Court informed that further updates will be released as the process progresses.
