Africa-Press – Angola. The Bishop of the Church of Our Lord Jesus Christ in the World (Os Tocoistas) opened, in Luanda, a series of conferences under the theme “Let us celebrate the Theophany with Prayer to God, in favor of Peace in the World and Stability in the Republic Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC).

According to the bishop, who was speaking at a press conference, the series of lectures will take place between the 17th and 18th of April at the Centro Cultural Dr António Agostinho Neto, in Catete, municipality of Icolo and Bengo.

To celebrate the 89th anniversary of Theophany, April 17th, the Tocoista community in Angola and abroad, from the 24th of this month, will hold fasting and prayer in favor of Peace in the World and Stability in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

“We will pray for Peace in the DRC because they are brothers who welcomed us in the colonial period, the Congolese are not our neighbors, but brothers”, he stated.

He pointed out some essential security measures for all pilgrims who will participate in the pilgrimage to the Sanctuary of Catete, which are already being prepared by government security forces.

“The pilgrimage to Catete takes thousands of faithful every year to the Sanctuary, where the Prophet Simão Toco met and spoke with the Most High God, on April 17, 1935.

According to Bishop Nunes, during the conference cycle, among other topics, “Religious Tourism in the Process of Socio-Economic Development, The Role of the Church In the Context of Post-Independence Africa” will be addressed.

The Role of the State in the Protection and Development of Christianity in Angola, as well as the Role of the Church in the Decolonization Process of Africa and Its Influence on Current African Political Powers, will also be other topics to be addressed.

On the other hand, the prelate, when talking about the country’s economic situation, said that Angola is not in lack of money, but rather in a lack of people with good minds and generous people.

For the Bishop, if people with a lot of money made the economy available, the country would reach higher levels and bring joy to the people.

“I’m not an economist but I don’t believe that Angola has so much debt, we are at 60 percent debt if I’m not mistaken, this is nothing for our country because there are people with much more,” he said.

He pointed out that if agriculture were done properly, the country would grow, exemplifying that the houses built by the colonists were made with money from agriculture.

He appealed to young people to have more love for the country and not greed and the spirit of stealing and buying houses in Europe.

“Neto abandoned his homes to go to the forest to fight, he must have love for his country to end the internal crisis”, he concluded.
