Africa-Press – Angola. The 54 participants of the “Fam Trip” tour were welcomed on Thursday in the Dombe Grande municipality (Benguela) with demonstrations of the efico (female) and ekwendje (male) rites of passage.
The “Fam Trip” tour explores tourism opportunities in southern Angola.
Participants attended a meeting at Otchoto, a meeting room, and visited Elombê, a residence where girls are prepared for the efico ceremony, which marks the transition from adolescence to adulthood.
The Dombe Grande community also presented the Ekwendje, a ritual reserved for young men that marks the end of adolescence and the beginning of adulthood.The ceremonies culminated in the Tchinganji dance, featuring masked dancers who entertain at parties and rituals.
According to Dorix Raimundo, the vice president of the Provincial Hotel and Tourism Association, Benguela province has enormous tourism potential in the areas of sun, sea, culture, and history.
He said that improving roads and increasing flight frequencies will allow for better exploration of local tourism resources.
The first “Fam Trip” excursion is a partnership between the Ministry of Tourism, the Private Investment and Export Promotion Agency (AIPEX), and the Gitu Kiame Travel Agency.
The trip will take 54 tourists from South Africa, Nigeria, Zambia, Lesotho, Poland, and Sweden from Luanda to the provinces of Benguela, Huíla, and Namibe.
