Africa-Press – Angola. Tour operators are praising the measures taken by the Angolan government to promote tourism in the country, saying they contribute to the development of the sector.

On Friday in Madrid, Spain, the president of the Association of Travel Agencies and Tour Operators of Angola (AAVOTA), Catarina Oliveira, expressed this satisfaction at the Madrid International Tourism Fair (FITUR).

Speaking to Angolan press, Oliveira said that, from the moment the government started supporting tourism, tour operators only had to work because the conditions were being created.

Oliveira acknowledged that there is still much to be done in terms of infrastructure but noted that tourism in Angola is already on the right track.

“Tour operators have no choice but to work because the conditions are in place. Tourism isn’t just hotels, resorts, or restaurants. It’s part of it, but when we empower the entire tourism chain, we will see tourism take off,” she emphasized.

She defended the need to pay more attention to logistics, since Angola has achieved its goals, and operators need to better organize their companies. The country itself also needs to organize to receive visitors.

According to Oliveira, Angola is gradually beginning to “shine” and is already well known.

Regarding the award for female leadership that she received in November of last year, the head of AAVOTA considered it recognition for all her work, as well as for her resilience and persistence in developing Angolan tourism.

Founded in 1997, the Angolan Association of Travel Agencies and Tour Operators (AAVOTA) is present at the largest tourism fair in Europe. The association’s goal is to seek partnerships with foreign tourism organizations to develop Angolan tourism.

FITUR, one of the world’s most influential international tourism fairs, will take place at IFEMA Madrid from January 21 to 25. The fair continues to consolidate its position as the main event for inbound and outbound tourism markets.
