Africa-Press – Angola. Twenty groups from different provinces of the country have been competing, since Sunday, in Luanda, for the prize of the 3rd edition of “Teatro de Duplas”, promoted by the production company Cena Livre

Running until the 27th of this month, the event takes place at the Angolan League of Friendship and Solidarity with Peoples (LAASP), as part of World Theater Day.

According to the organization, the event arises due to the lack of awards for Angolan theater.

Of the 20 participating groups, 12 are from Luanda, two from Namibe, the same number from Cuando Cubango, one from Huíla, as well as Cuanza-Norte, Bié and Malanje.

The first classified group will receive one million kwanzas, the second 500 thousand and the third 350 thousand kwanzas.

This year, the event is called “Avelino Viegas Continuity Award”, in honor of one of the greatest actors in Angolan theater, who made history with the character Kamba Mbiji, in the show “O Feiticeiro e o Inteligente”, by the group Etu Lene.

Cena Livre is a company dedicated to producing cultural events, with an emphasis on theater.
